Rocky’s K9 Rescue is a not for profit rescue group for dogs and cats in NSW. We do not receive government funding and survive on fundraising and donations. Therefore, our resources are usually limited. The entire team at Rocky’s are volunteers.
We are often contacted by people who want, or need, to surrender their dog or cat.
Sometimes we can help, and sometimes we cannot help. It very much depends of our capacity at the time, and availability of foster carers. In the case of a dog surrender, it will also depend on the personality and history of your dog. Dogs taken into our care are usually housed with other dogs, so taking on a dog-aggressive dog will not be possible.
Our surrender fee is $500.00
Please note – surrenders are subject to approval by Rocky’s K9 Rescue. We will contact you after we received your form and photos to let you know if we can assist.
We have successfully assisted people in re-homing their dogs and cats in the past. It works differently to surrender.
Basically, you provide us with a profile of your pet and photos. Where possible, we will also visit you and your pet. We then advertise your pet on Pet Rescue, our website and on our Facebook page. Your pet receives a lot of exposure in this way.
Your pet remains with you while we search for their new forever home. We take the calls and only contact you when we feel we have a ‘good match’ for your pet. We don’t know how long this process will take and so you need to be able to house and care for your pet until we find a good match.
There is no fee to you, however the rescue fee comes to Rocky’s K9 Rescue.
Please note -assisted re-homing is subject to approval by Rocky’s K9 Rescue. We will contact you after we received your form and photos to let you know if we can assist.
